The Quintessential Weekender Bag

It's Friday afternoon and the work week is finally winding down. You're rushing to finish those last minute tasks so you don't miss the Amtrak home for Thanksgiving. 25 minutes should be enough time to get from Tribeca to Penn Station, but between the potential holiday traffic and sea of tourists, you figure you should add another 15 minutes just in case.

As you wrap up your final email and log off, your iPhone vibrates. It's your iCalendar reminder to "LEAVE WORK NOW." You hoist your weekender bag over your shoulder, grab your phone in one hand, employee ID in the other, take one final look at your desk to make sure you didn't forget anything, and walk swiftly toward the elevators.

You arrive at Penn right on schedule. Making your way through the crowd, you tick each item off your mental checklist. Two sets of clothes, check. Sneakers and boots, check. Toothbrush, check. iPad, check. The latest issue of Entrepreneur Mag, check. You pull your Mary Poppins-like bag closer to your side since the waiting area of the station is a madhouse and you think, thank god I'm not that person tripping everyone with my luggage.

The train pulls into the station and you're standing exactly where the doors of the last car are going to open because it's closest to the exit at your stop. This foresight also allows you to be the first to board and pick that coveted window seat. You stow your weekender bag in the overhead rack and slide into your seat. All you can think about is the taste of mom's unbelievably delicious home cooking.

Happy thanksgiving.
